Q- Tell us a little bit of who you are?
A-   My name is Billy and i have a background in commercial Lithograph printing. I love creating in the 3D form,I also dabble in painting, illustrations, I try to combine everything together but my main thing is ceramics.

Q- Cool, so what got you started in ceramics?
A-   I was doing a colour theory class at Shabolt Centre for the Arts at the time and I would have to walk by the ceramics department to get to class. As I would walk by, I would always look in and be amaze by everything. So when my class ended, I decided to take an intro pottery class there and that’s when it all got started.

Q- You have an interesting name for a brand, tell us what Ball + Cup means and how you came up with that?
A-   Ball + Cup is a symbol for my dog Darla and I. She would always carry her favorite ball in her mouth when she is happy and you always see me working on cups so I put that together. It also means the process of turning a ball of clay into a functional vessel, handmade in BC. The name works on many levels.

Q-  Can you tell us a little something about your creative process?
A-   I try to characterize my pieces by creating simple and minimalistic forms, Exploring the balance of raw organic clay and glaze. I also love collaborating with other creative people, trying to keep my inspirations alive!
